Welcome to my website! My name is Jubilee Barker, and I am a qualified piano teacher who teaches in the Sacramento area. I specialize in teaching beginners to late intermediate level students, both children and adults.

WHO I AM

I grew up in a musical family and started playing the piano as soon as I could reach the keys. I was privileged to receive twelve years of private classical piano training from a San Francisco Conservatory-trained pianist, Valerie Hawkins, who nurtured my passion for music and for classical music in particular. I also studied music theory at American River College.

I started teaching piano students at age 17, and have kept a full roster of piano students ever since. In addition to teaching private students all over Sacramento, I have taught piano at Kline Music since 2007. I enjoyed teaching at Barthelmes Conservatory of Music in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2009, and I have enjoyed many opportunities to perform for weddings, accompany for classical recitals, compose, provide music for church groups, and entertain at convalescent homes.

I have taught numerous students - from youngsters beginning their musical journey on the family spinet, to talented high schoolers, to determined seniors looking for an enriching hobby. I am gifted with patience for brand-new beginners, as well as adults returning to piano after a long hiatus. I can help every student develop strong reading and playing skills, confidence, and musicality.

I am a Sacramento-based piano teacher with over 22 years of teaching experience. I welcome students ages 6 and up. Currently, I offer in-home lessons in Sacramento, Carmichael, Arden Arcade, Fair Oaks, Citrus Heights, and Folsom.

Lessons are private, thirty-minute or one hour sessions in the comfort of the student’s own home. Each lesson is tailored to the unique goals and needs of the individual student. I greatly emphasize classical repertoire in my teaching and a solid foundation in music fundamentals.
